Discovering a new microbial world is just one click away...

Below are various ways to participate in the research study.

A crowdfunding platform supports the Microsetta Initiative (TMI), and specific contributions are eligible to receive a perk.

Options marked (*) require monetary backing and are non refundable.

nutrition

Analyze Your Nutrition*

Complete a Food Questionnaire and receive a nutrition report

By contributing and selecting this perk, you will have the opportunity  to take an online Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) which gathers information about your diet (Average time to complete- 30 minutes). Easy to follow prompts will guide you through the process of collecting information about the foods you eat regularly.

Upon completing the questionnaire, receive a diet report with an evaluation of your food and nutrient intake.

Microbiome

Explore Your Microbiome*

Includes Analyze Your Nutrition

Receive a personalized microbiome & nutrition report.

The human body’s largest population of microorganisms resides in the gut and is collectively called the gut microbiota, and each person has one unique to them. Factors like what you eat, where you live, how much you exercise, and so much more can create these differences. Submit a fecal sample to better understand what makes up your microbiota.

By contributing and selecting this perk, you will receive the following:

  • An easy-to-use at-home collection kit.
  • Opportunity to take an online Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) which gathers information about your diet (average time to complete- 30 minutes). Easy to follow prompts will guide you through the process of collecting information about the foods you eat regularly.

Upon returning your microbiome sample and completing the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), the following reports will be available:

  • Microbial lineages found in the sample
  • Microbial comparison to others in the TMI dataset
  • Evaluation of your food and nutrient intake

Sample collection is non-invasive, and each kit includes free return shipping.
Important: Once received the collection kit should be completed and returned
within 6 months.

Follow Your Gut*

Includes Analyze Your Nutrition x 4

Receive four collection kits and see how your gut microbiome can change year-round!

What happens throughout the year to your gut microbiome as your body responds to seasonal fluctuations and ongoing changes in diet and behavior? Now you can follow your gut to find out.

By contributing and selecting this perk, you will receive the following:

  • Four easy-to-use at-home collection kits. Kits are delivered to you in three-month intervals for one full year.
  • Opportunity to take four online Food Frequency Questionnaires (FFQ’s) which gather information about your diet (Average time to complete- 30 minutes each).

Important: Once received, collection kits should be completed and returned to the lab within 1 month.
